Ocubio is developing OB-1, an innovative allogeneic and standardized human platelet lysate eye drop, to explore potential solutions for the challenges faced by individuals with dry eye disease. This investigational product leverages components found in blood plasma, such as growth factors, proteins, and anti-inflammatory agents, which are being studied for their potential to support ocular surface health and natural healing processes. OB-1 aims to address unmet needs in patients who may not have access to autologous serum drops and is being evaluated for its applicability in conditions commonly associated with dry eye, such as autoimmune diseases.
OB-1 is being developed under an exclusive license from the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami, with early-stage research supported by Phase 1 and Phase 2 Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) awards from the U.S. Department of Defense.
A Phase II multicenter clinical trial is planned to further investigate the safety and efficacy of OB-1. Ocubio is committed to advancing research in dry eye care, contributing to a deeper understanding of potential new therapeutic approaches for this widespread condition.
OB-1 is currently under clinical development and has not been approved by the FDA.
